DREADMOOR includes harpoon-related equipment, but the name needs context. Reinforced harpoons appear in the crafting description, while the Grappling Hook Gun and Harpoon Launcher are named as separate tools. The Harpooner is a fish, not the weapon or the retrieval tool.
Match the tool to the task
The announced game combines fishing, resource scavenging, crafting and real-time encounters. Those activities can involve different equipment even when a preview casually describes something as a harpoon gun.
| Name or description | What to distinguish |
|---|---|
| Reinforced harpoons | Equipment named in the crafting description |
| Grappling Hook Gun | A named tool; do not assume it shares every weapon function |
| Harpoon Launcher | A separately named piece of equipment |
| Harpooner | A fish, not a harpoon upgrade |

Identify equipment by its in-game name and task; the Harpooner is a fish.
Inspect the item name and the interaction prompt before assuming a fishing or combat instruction applies to a salvage action. Sharing a similar name does not make the control, target or requirement interchangeable.
Retrieval shown in an earlier preview
The March 2026 hands-on preview described a harpoon-style tool used to pull floating supply boxes closer. It also described pulling pivot mechanisms during a small early gate puzzle.
Those are observations of that preview build. They do not establish the exact controls, target rules or puzzle sequence in every later demo. In particular, the October demo's final The Throat machinery sequence should not be replaced with instructions from that earlier gate encounter.
Crafting without an invented recipe
Resources gathered across the flooded world are used to craft specialized bait, reinforced harpoons, medicines and survival tools. Salvage and discovered blueprints are part of the equipment progression.

This shows the crafting interaction, not a confirmed reinforced-harpoon recipe.
No complete current reinforced-harpoon recipe, damage value, ammunition cost or unlock location is confirmed here. Use the recipe and item information shown by your installed build instead of assuming a material list applies because it uses the same weapon name.
When a task involves reeling in a fish, first establish whether the target is the Harpooner species. That is a fishing-control problem and should not be treated as evidence that you need to craft a different harpoon weapon.
